The FTHS Class of 1971 had it's 40th reunion this past weekend. I guess it's true, time flies when you're having fun...or, at least, enjoying life most of the time. Doesn't seem possible that it could be forty years since I moved from childhood into what passed for adulthood. Altho my life has been mostly uneventful (some would say boring), I would have to say it has been good enough for me. And by that I mean my life fits my personality, which is all I could ask for.
One good thing about gathering with a bunch of people you grew up with is gauging how well you have held up to the rigors of life, compared to your peers. Overall, I have to say I'm not doing too bad! I have stayed closer to my highschool weight than all but a couple of my classmates, and don't show the ravages of age like most of my classmates. There's one other lifelong bachelor in my class, and strangely, despite the claims that married men live ten years longer, we both looked in better shape than most of the happily married guys from our class.
One thing I noticed is how much some people's looks change, and how some change relatively little. Don't know that I've ever heard of any medical studies about the reasons behind that fact, but it would be interesting to know why some people's appearance changes so much, and some don't.
I guess I'm lucky, I have gotten SO much better looking as I've grown older.
I know what you're thinking...."You didn't have anywhere to go but up".
Smart alec.
